The Oklahoma City Thunder now know who they will play in the Western Conference Finals. The answer is the San Antonio Spurs.

On Friday night the Spurs defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves 139-109 at the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota. With the win, the Spurs won the best out of seven Western Conference semifinal series four games to two.

What we saw on Friday was excellence from Spurs point guard Stephon Castle of Covington, Georgia. Castle delivered his second career postseason double-double as he had 32 points and a postseason high 11 rebounds. Castle, the 2025 NBA rookie of the year, also set a postseason high in field goals made (11), three point shots made (five), defensive rebounds (eight), and plus/minus (+28).

Five more Spurs reached double digits in points. Point guard De’Aaron Fox of New Orleans, Louisiana had 21 points, center Victor Wembanyama of Le Chesnay, France had 19 points, small forward Julian Champagnie of Brooklyn, New York had 18 points, shooting guard Dylan Harper of Franklin Lakes, New Jersey had 15 points off the bench, and shooting guard Devin Vassell of Lawrenceville, Georgia had 11 points.

Like the Pistons, San Antonio had more points than their opponent in every quarter on Friday. San Antonio outscored Minnesota 36-27 after the first quarter, 38-34 in the second quarter, 36-23 in the third quarter and 29-25 in the fourth quarter.

The Spurs are heading into the Western Conference Finals against the Thunder with momentum. That is because the Spurs beat the Thunder four times in five opportunities this season. Game one of the best-out-of-seven series is Monday.
