For the second time in 2025, Ryan Fox of Auckland, New Zealand has won an event on the PGA Tour. After winning the 2025 Myrtle Beach Classic less than a month ago, Fox won the 2025 RBC Canadian Open at the Osprey Valley North Course an hour north of Toronto, Ontario, in Caledon, Ontario.

In both titles in 2025, Fox needed a playoff to be victorious. When Fox won at Myrtle Beach, he had a 72 hole score of -15, and beat Canadian Mackenzie Hughes and American Harry Higgs in a playoff. Then on Sunday, Fox beat Sam Burns of Shreveport, Louisiana in a four hole playoff. Fox and Burns both parred the first three holes before Fox delivered with a birdie.

Fox and Burns were both at -18 after 72 holes. Kevin Yu of Taiwan was alone in third place at -17. Americans Matt McCarty and Cameron Young were tied for fourth place at -16, while American Andrew Putnam, South Korea’s Byeong Hun An and Italy’s Matteo Manassero were tied for sixth place at -15,

In the first round, Fox posted a score of four-under-par 66. He had five birdies and one bogey. Fox birdied the first, seventh, 11th, 16th, and 18th holes, and bogeyed the ninth hole. In the second round, he posted another score of four-under-par 66. Fox had eight birdies and four bogeys. He birdied the first, second, fourth, sixth, 12th, 13th, 14th, and 18th holes, and bogeyed the third, seventh, 15th, and 17th holes. In the third round, Fox had seven birdies and one bogey. He birdied the first, second, third, eighth, ninth, 12th, and 18th holes, and bogeyed the 11th hole. In the fourth round, Fox had four birdies and zero bogeys. He birdied the sixth, 14th, 15th, and 18th holes.

Fox is the second New Zealand golfer to win the Canadian Open. He follows 1963 British Open champion Bob Charles of Carterton, New Zealand, who won the 1968 Canadian Open by two strokes over Jack Nicklaus after posting a score of -6 at St. George’s Golf and Country Club in Etobicoke, Ontario. It should be noted that Ryan Fox is the son of New Zealand rugby legend Grant Fox.
