Rosehill Best Selection & Value Play 22/3

1 year ago - Sportingbase Rosehill Best Selection & Value Play 22/3 Image

Five G1s take centre stage at Rosehill today with the Golden Slipper the headliner. Our analyst has selected a star mare peaking on grand final day and a mare from an in form yard bouncing back from cadiac arrhythmia as the value play.

Best Selection: R7- Fangirl

Fangirl peaks today in the G1 George Ryder. She has been as sharp as ever in 2 runs this prep winning the G2 Apollo 1st up before going down to Via Sistina by 0.3L in the Verry Elleegant. If she jumped cleanly last start I believe she would’ve beaten Via Sistina and we would be looking at a much shorter quote. She does have a habit of stepping slow so take that on face value.

She peaks here 3rd over 1500m and J Mac was full of praise after her track work on Tuesday. She hasn’t won in 3 Rosehill starts but this looks prime for the taking. I’m not as worried about Gate 9 as some are provided she steps with them. She should be able to position up ahead of Tom Kitten, Militarize and Kovalica leaving her close enough on the turn.

Value Selection: R10- Shezanalister

Shezanalister has to get another chance after pulling up with cardiac arrhythmia when a heavily backed favourite in the G2 Wenona Girl. She was a brilliant winner 1st up. The poor Rosehill record is a concern.
