Ravens sign defensive end Jadeveon Clowney and cornerback Ronald Darby

According to the Associated Press on Friday, the Baltimore Ravens have signed defensive end Jadeveon Clowney of Rock Hill, South Carolina and cornerback Ronald Darby of Oxon Hill, Maryland. The Ravens were in need of improving their defense because according to Dov Kleiman of bribible.com,  Ravens Pro Bowl cornerback Marlon Humphrey of Hoover, Alabama will be out one month because of foot surgery.

Clowney will be joining his fifth National Football League team. He was previously with the Houston Texans (2014 to 2018), Seattle Seahawks (2019), Tennessee Titans (2020), and Cleveland Browns (2021 to 2022). In 2022 with Cleveland, Clowney played in 12 games, and had 28 combined tackles (14 solo tackles and 14 assisted tackles), four tackles for a loss, four quarterback hits, three pass deflections, two sacks, one fumble recovery and one forced fumble.

In Clowney’s career, he has played in 109 games. He has 320 combined tackles (224 solo tackles and 96 assisted tackles), 90 tackles for a loss, 109 quarterback hits, one interception for 27 yards, one pick six, 23 pass deflections, 13 forced fumbles, eight fumble recoveries for 85 yards, three touchdowns from fumble recoveries and 43 sacks. The pick six came in a 27-10 Seahawks win over the Arizona Cardinals on September 29, 2019. Clowney was selected to the Pro Bowl three straight years from 2016 to 2018 while with the Texans.

Darby will also be joining his fifth National Football League team. He was previously with the Buffalo Bills (2015 to 2016), the Philadelphia Eagles (2017 to 2019), Washington (2020), and the Denver Broncos (2021 to 2022). With the Broncos in 2022, Darby had 14 combined tackles (12 solo tackles and two assisted tackles), three pass deflections and one forced fumble. He only played five games because he tore his anterior cruciate ligament on October 6.

In 89 games in his NFL career, Darby has 373 combined tackles (321 solo tackles and 52 assisted tackles), eight tackles for a loss, one quarterback hit, eight interceptions for 135 yards, 90 pass deflections, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. The fumble recovery came in a 20-9 Washington win over the Cincinnati Bengals on November 22, 2020.
