Randwick Best Selection & Value Play 4/1
January 4, 2025
A great day of racing awaits at Randwick today. Our analyst has found an emerging Ryan & Alexiou 3yo and Van Gestel mare as the Value Play.Â
Best Selection: R7- Amazing Eagle
Amazing Eagle was scratched from the Gosford Guineas on Tuesday with a minor heel issue but Gerald Ryan stated that come 9.30am that morning he wished he had run him.
He instead comes to this BM88 and gets in really well with only 53kg. He was a Listed Brian Crowley winner in the spring before going down by only 0.1L on a Heavy at Doomben. He shouldn’t be disadvantaged settling in the first 2 and will be tough to run down.

Value Selection: R5- Dark Glitter
Dark Glitter’s last start 2nd over this track/distance was outstanding. She had to drift back through the field to find a spot but continued to race keenly. She was then forced wide without cover on the turn but still displayed a strong turn of foot to be in front a long way until she was pipped at the 50m by Captain Amelia having a much softer run. The time from that race was only a couple of length worse than the BM100 ran later in the day so I’d expect that form to hold up in this race.
The query is that she will have ground to make up in a race where the tempo will be moderate at best. The juicy odds make that risk easy to cover.
