Randwick Best Selection & Value Play 19/4
April 19, 2025
The Sydney Autumn Carnival closes out with a cracking edition of the G1 All Aged Stakes at Randwick. Our analyst is keen on an emerging Hawkes star in the feature and a Godolphin filly peaking over 1400m as the value play.
Best Selection: R8- Briasa
Briasa has to go on top. He’s been outstanding in 2 very different runs from different gates this campaign. He was forced to settle back at the rear from Gate 13 over an unfavourable 1100m 1st up in the G1 Galaxy and rocketed home to finish 1.8L 4th.
His 0.2L win in the G1 TJ had everything go to plan when in settled 1 out/1 back from Gate 3 and immediately found the best going 3 lanes off the rail in the straight to eventually wear down Overpass. Briasa looks the most progressive type a the field where the likes of Joliestar and Broadsiding have had their grand finals. He is now a WFA G1 winner at just start 9 and he is a real barrier horse with Gate 4 allowing him to land in a great spot over 1400m.

Value Selection: R4- Zeitung
Zeitung looks to be following a nice program getting to 1400m 3rd up. She hit the line nicely from the rear and copped a couple of checks at bad times when 1.3L 5th in the G3 PJ Bell Stakes a fortnight ago. She should be able settle a couple of pairs closer from a better gate and in a field where those drawn out wide map to be going back to the rear. She was a G3 Vanity winner over this trip at Flemington back in the spring and should be peaking for this.
