Best Selection: R7- Golden Straand
The Matthew Smith 4yo has always been a promising type currently holding the Warwick Farm 1200m record. He looks to be putting it all together after his 0.6L 2nd to Lady of Camelot over 900m at Canterbury. He settled 2nd and was a couple of lengths off the Waterhouse/Bott Golden Slipper winner on the turn before making steady ground the whole way up the straight. He finished 3.3L ahead of quality sprinter Angel Capital. 1st up is a slight risk but I think the big tick is that he gets a firm deck having a 3: 2-0-0 Good track record with excuses at his only miss.

Value Selection: R5- Mawjood
The Baker 4yo returned with a 1.4L 750m trial win at Warwick Farm where he went straight to the front and stayed there the whole way without be asked to do much. It was obvious that the stable held a strong opinion of him last prep when he was sent out to the Coonamble Cup after a big Rosehill win and then backed up 6 days later in the Big Dance Wildcard with the hope of scoring a start in the feature at Randwick on Melbourne Cup Day. He seemed to be flattened by the travels but looks to be going well after a break on the back of 2 sharp trial wins.
