RACING TIPS: Warwick Farm Best Selection & Value Play 24/9

A 6 Race card for midweek Sydney racing at Warwick Farm today. Our analyst likes a Waterhouse/Bott runner getting on-speed favours in the opener and a Freedman mare stepping out 1st up after a nice trial behind a subsequent G3 winner as the value play.

Best Selection: R1- Hellabella

I’m keen on Hellabella to kick off the Warwick Farm card. She looks ready to breakthrough after two solid provincial 2nds this prep that have been run in impressive time. The latest came over 1100m at Hawkesbury where she led them up and was 1.8L 2nd to Jellicious, a mare that has been heavily backed to win its’ next start in BM72 company later in this card. The final 600m was a slick 33.1s.

The step up to 1200m for the first time is a slight query but she maps as the only proven leader in the race and gets first use of the track in the opener.

Value Selection: R5 – Heeben

Heesen looks a great value play with the favourite requiring an A+ ride from the outside gate. She ended last prep with a 4.8L win at Kembla before a 0.2L win at Newcastle in slick time with 4 subsequent winners coming out of that race.

Her latest trial was outstanding where she showed enough early speed to hold a position inside Diamond Lil. She wasn’t put under any real pressure up the straight but held on to finish 1.6L 2nd to last Friday’s G3 Tibbie winner.

Where she lands from the wide gate is a slight concern but there plenty of ground before only 1 turn over the Warwick Farm 1200m. If she can find some cover in behind the speed she should be hard to beat at odds.
