RACING: Scone Best Selection & Value Play 16/5

3 weeks ago - DustinS RACING: Scone Best Selection & Value Play 16/5 Image

Scone hosts Metro NSW racing today. Our analyst is keen on a a proven G1 performing Charlton runner dropping right back in grade and a 4y0 stepping out on his home track that was outstanding 1st up as the value play.

Best Selection: R10- Linebacker

Linebacker would only need to turn up anywhere close to his best to be taking out the Listed Luskin Star in the final race of the day. He has been competitive in G1s in his last 3 races that include excuses when 7.6L 6th in the Doncaster and only 1.5L off Joliestar over this trip in the Canterbury Stakes. He’s had a freshen up with a nice Canterbury trial win to prepare.

Value Selection: R6- Wanaruah

The ex Waterhouse/Bott entire was massive returning for his first run in 12 months for his new Cananough yard. He settled 1 pair back on the rail and charged to the front at the top of the straight before being run down by the impressive Golden Straand to finish 0.4L 2nd with a 1.3L gap back to 3rd. I expect the form to hold up strong from that race as they ran 0.01s quicker than the Listed Hawkesbury Rush later in the day. I’m always cautious with horses 2nd up off a long break so that is the query. If there is market support closer to the race then he looks great value.
