The G1 Tancred headlines a big day at Rosehill on Saturday as we head towards The Championships. Our analyst likes a Matthew Smith mare coming off a great 1st up run and a G1 winning Price & Kent gelding as the value play.

Best Selection: R7- Idle Flyer
Idle Flyer looks well placed to improve 2nd up from the perfect gate. Many were disappointed with the heavily backed $2.3 favourite’s 1.4L 4th in the Epona Girl 1st up. She showed tactical versatility settling in the 1-1 albeit on the back of a slow tempo. When they sprinted at the top of the straight she was left a little flat-footed, particularly at the 300m before picking up and running through the line well the final 100m. Jumping up to 1500m looks perfect and her 2.2L Warwick Farm trial win between these runs was outstanding.

Value Selection: R9- Globe
Globe was disappointing when 4.3L 10th in the G2 Ajax 1st up but at $18 I think he is worth a 2nd chance after recording 2 nice trial wins at Rosehill and Randwick leading in, the latest by 4.3L. He was a 3L winner of the G1 Caulfield Stakes to round out the spring and will be looking for a forward showing here leading into the Doncaster. If the track stays in the Soft range it will be a big tick for him. He should overcome the wide gate rolling forward and looks a solid each way play.
