RACING: Hawkesbury Best Selection & Value Play 2/5

Hawkesbury hosts a stand alone Saturday metro meeting headlined by the Hawkesbury Cup, Hawkesbury Guineas and Hawkesbury Crown. Our analyst likes a progressive Smith sprinter and a Waller filly coming off a great run in the JB Carr as the Value Play.

Best Selection: R5- Golden Straand

Golden Straand finds a nice Saturday race to progress towards in a field made up of a lot of midweek form. He was outstanding recording a 1.4L win over this trip at Warwick Farm 1st up. He was caught wide back in the field but still produced strong closing sectionals coming home in 33.34s. He looks ready to step up to this grade and gets map upside on that run jumping from Gate 7 in the large field with Nash sticking.

Value Selection: R6- Karinska

Karinska looks great value coming out of a pearler of a run in the G3 JB Carr. J Mac settled her midfield on the rail and found himself on heels from the point of the turn. He had a lap full of horse when a narrow run appeared at the 200m before McEvoy slammed the door shut on eventual winner Snitzel Dancer. She closed off strongly when out at the 50m to finish 1.3L 3rd. She gets 4kg off Skyhook who looks her main danger but does jump from Gate 11.
