Golden Rose winner heads south

Warwoven makes his Melbourne debut after completing the Run To The Rose and Golden Rose double at Rosehill. He won the Golden Rose by 3.16 lengths on 26 September, and trainer Bjorn Baker made the Guineas his next target straight after the race.

“I’m looking forward to taking on my old mate Trent Busuttin with Blind Raise and the team in the Caulfield Guineas,” Baker said, racing.com reported.

Blind Raise is the only gelding in the field, according to Breednet. He has won four of his five starts, including both runs this campaign. He won the McKenzie at Sandown on 5 September, then beat Tornado Valley by 2.75 lengths in the Guineas Prelude at Caulfield two weeks later.

Waller’s four and the Freedman pair

Waller’s team includes Stutt Stakes winner Diameter and runner-up Somethings Burnin’, plus Tron Bolt, who won the Group 1 JJ Atkins over 1600m at Eagle Farm in June. James McDonald, who rode Diameter in the Stutt, is on Central Europe, with Jye McNeil taking over on Diameter.

The Freedmans have Wolf Gap, fourth in the Prelude, and the unbeaten Call Me Coach. Call Me Coach races in Jonathan Munz’s Pinecliff Racing silks, which Mark Zahra wore when he won the 2019 Caulfield Guineas on Super Seth. Zahra rides Call Me Coach on Saturday.

“I think on talent, Call Me Coach has got Wolf Gap covered, but Wolf Gap’s had the grounding, he’s had some hard runs,” Sam Freedman said, racing.com reported.

Caulfield has had 73.8mm of rain since its last race day, according to Racing Australia’s track information. The track was rated Soft 6 on Wednesday, and conditions can change before Saturday.
