RACING: Canterbury Best Selection & Value Play 27/5
May 26, 2026
Midweek Sydney racing returns to Canterbury on a wet deck. Our analyst likes a Baker 3yo that looks to be above average bringing a pair of big country wins and a country galloper that looks set to peak on a wet track.

Best Selection: R4- Real BakerÂ
Real Baker looks ready to perform at midweek level. He caught the eye in a Rosehill trial on a Soft 7 back in March being aggressively ridden out of the gates, opening up a big lead at the top of the straight and going on with it to post a 9L win. He recorded what was easily the fastest time of the 5 1030m trials of the morning. He was put away after his debut win at Orange, a formula I love from the stable and has since recorded a with big 4.5L return win at Bathurst.Â

Value Selection: R3- The Iron Star
The Iron Star looks set to peak in a very winnable midweek 1900m race. He was terrific going down by 0.1L over 1800m at Hawkesbury on a Soft 7 last start with a 2.1L win back to 3rd. Whilst he hasn’t won in the wet, his 7: 0-3-1 record suggests he gets through it, where there are question marks over many with much shorter quotes in the race.Â
