Pistons power forward Isaiah Stewart arrested for pregame fight in the parking lot
February 16, 2024
According to Sara Smart and Jacob Lev of CNN on Thursday, Detroit Pistons power forward Isaiah Stewart of Rochester, New York was arrested for an apparent altercation with Phoenix Suns center Drew Eubanks of Starkville, Mississippi prior to the game between the Suns and Pistons on Wednesday. In fact, according to Sean Neumann of Yahoo! Sports, Stewart allegedly punched Eubanks in the parking lot of Phoenix’s Footprint Arena a couple of hours before the Suns beat the Pistons 116-100. The punch delivered by Stewart allegedly hit Eubanks in the mouth, and Stewart was escorted out of the arena, and did not play the game, according to Donnie Druin of Sports Illustrated.Â
Eubanks, who is 27 years of age, played 18 minutes and 19 seconds, and had six points, six rebounds, two assists and one blocked shot, and was a +5. He made three of eight field goal attempts.
Anyway you look at it, it has been a disastrous season for the Pistons, and their awful season just continues. With a record of eight wins and 46 losses, they have a winning percentage of .148, the worst winning percentage in the entire NBA.
The Suns meanwhile are the fifth best team in the Western Conference with a record of 33 wins and 22 losses. It was their second straight win as they defeated the Sacramento Kings 130-125 on Tuesday. This was the last game for Phoenix and Detroit before the All-Star break. Phoenix next plays in Dallas on February 22, while Detroit’s next game is in Indiana on February 22 as well. The week long break could be good for the Pistons, who have won only five of 23 games in 2024.
