Our Black Book: Horses You Must Follow From Caulfield 19/8
August 22, 2023
Our analyst has reviewed the sectional times, ratings & replays from last Saturday’s Caulfield meeting & has placed four horses you must follow below.
YELLOW SAM
Racing Victoria stewards noted she raced four wide without cover for the duration of the race. Despite this the lightly raced mare steamed home to finish third behind Viviane and was strong after the line. Lindsey Smith has her ready to win.

CARINI
Encouraging Australian debut to finish third behind Amenable as he was slow to begin. Finished on in good fashion to finish third. He has a nice future ahead.

SCHEELITE
Even though it was his first defeat he lost no admirers. He raced a bit greenly and ended up in the slower part of the track when he hung in. His best work was over the last 150 metres and he was very strong after the line. He’s been set for the Caulfield Guineas and it will be the further the better for him.

I AM UNSTOPPABLE
He ruined his winning chances when he was slow away but he still almost got there. He recorded the best closing sectionals for the day for the last 400 metres (21.96 seconds) and 200 metres (11.16 seconds).

LAWRENCE STAKES: TUVALU/AEGON/FORGOT YOU
In a race where there was a host of great runs the efforts of Aegon and Tuvalu to run on from well back to finish third and fourth respectively suggest they are both in for great campaigns. Tuvalu is capable of sitting much closer in the run and he can be competitive against Mr Brightside as he has proven in the past. There was also a really encouraging first-up run from Forgot You to finish seventh.

RIGHT YOU ARE
Excellent first-up performance from the much improved galloper to just get beaten by the fitter Jimmy The Bear who had four and a half kilos less than him. He’s in for another great campaign.
