There was a trade made in the National Football League on Tuesday according to Antwan Staley of Athlon Sports on Tuesday. The New England Patriots have traded offensive tackle Caedan Wallace of Robbinsville Township, New Jersey to the Miami Dolphins. In the deal, two draft picks were involved. The Dolphins received a seventh round pick in the 2029 National Football League Draft and the Patriots received a sixth round draft pick in the 2028 NFL Draft.
Wallace was a member of the Patriots the last two seasons. He played 10 games and was on the Patriots team that reached the 2025 Super Bowl. Wallace was originally the Patriots’s third round draft pick, 68th overall, in the 2024 National Football League Draft.
The reason why the Dolphins were in need of an offensive lineman is because Austin Jackson of Sacramento, California is out with an undisclosed injury. Jackson has played 62 games on the Dolphins’s offensive line over the last six seasons.
Miami has high hopes for Wallace. The reason is because he had an outstanding final season of college football at Penn State in 2023. During 359 pass blocking snaps while he was on the football field, Wallace only allowed a single sack.
The Dolphins are building for the future. They are not expected to contend in the AFC East this year as the divisional superpowers are clearly the Buffalo Bills and Patriots. The Dolphins are in fact last in the NFL power rankings heading into 2026 according to nfl.com.
