Nikola Jokic sets NBA record for most postseason triple doubles by a center

According to the Associated Press on Tuesday, Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic of Sombor, Serbia set the National Basketball Association record for most triple doubles in a postseason career by a center with 10. He had 29 points, 13 rebounds and 12 assists as the Nuggets defeated the Phoenix Suns 118-102 in game five of the Western Conference second round series. With the win, the Nuggets now have a three games to two lead in the best out of seven series.

Wilt Chamberlain of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania had the old record with nine postseason triple doubles at the center position. Of the nine triple doubles, eight came with the Philadelphia 76ers and one came with the Los Angeles Lakers. All of Jokic’s triple doubles have come with the only team he has played for–the Nuggets.
Magic Johnson of Lansing, Michigan has the NBA record for most postseason triple doubles. He had 30 with the Lakers.

The Nuggets had the best record in the Western Conference with a record of 53 wins and 29 losses. However, they now find themselves in a tight battle with a Phoenix Suns organization led by Devin Booker and Kevin Durant.
In other NBA playoff action on Tuesday, the 76ers beat the Boston Celtics 115-103. Joel Embiid of Yaounde, Cameroon had 33 points, and Tyrese Maxey of Dallas, Texas had 30 points. Two 76ers had double doubles as James Harden of Los Angeles, California had 17 points and 10 assists, and Tobias Harris of Islip, New York had 16 points and 11 rebounds. The 76ers lead the best out of seven Eastern Conference semifinal series at three games to two.
