NFL Player Profile: Davante Adams
One might think this would be an adjustment time for Davante Adams, as he is leaving Green Bay for Las Vegas. Think again. There will be strong familiarity in the state of Nevada for Adams this season as he is reacquainted with quarterback Derek Carr. Adams and Carr played together at Fresno State for two seasons in 2012 and 2013.
2021 NFL Season
Adams had 123 receptions for 1553 yards and 11 touchdowns for Green Bay in 2021. On October 10, he had a career-high 206 yards in a 25-22 Packers win over the AFC Champion Cincinnati Bengals.
Leading up to the NFL
A native of Redwood City, California, Adams had a fine freshman season at Fresno State, as he had 102 catches for 1312 yards and 14 touchdowns. In the process Adams was named the Mountain West Conference Freshman of the Year.
Adams won the 2013 Paul Warfield Trophy presented to the top wide receiver in the National Collegiate Athletic Association. That season he had 131 catches, 1719 yards and 24 touchdowns, leading the NCAA in each category. Adams was the Packers’ second round pick, 53rd overall, in the 2014 NFL Draft.
NFL Career
Adams played eight seasons with the Packers from 2014 to 2021, and was selected to the Pro Bowl for five straight seasons from 2017 to 2021. In 2020, Adams led the NFL with 18 touchdown catches and 98.1 yards per game. In 116 games, he has 669 catches for 8121 yards and 73 touchdowns.
Traded to the Raiders
Adams was traded from the Packers to the Raiders for a first and second round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. The Packers selected linebacker Quay Walker from the University of Georgia in the first round.
2022 Las Vegas Raiders
Las Vegas is in a very competitive AFC West that includes the powerful Kansas City Chiefs, and the much improved Denver Broncos and Los Angeles Chargers. Adams is set to be part of a strong receiving group in Vegas that includes wide receiver Hunter Renfrow and tight end Darren Waller.
