Could the Kangaroos’ Tuesday training run at Kogarah Oval have just cracked open the Jack Bostock puzzle that has been building since he hit the NRL open market a little earlier this week?
Considering all the rest of the word behind the scenes, this Sporting Base writer is saying yes: It’s looking more and more likely every day that Jack Bostock will be heading back to St George Illawarra in 2028, with his junior club expected to formally offer him a near-seven-figure deal quite soon.

Bostock’s teammates seem in on the fun, with some yelling “new home ground” at the fresh-faced Australian superstar as they ran out to train at Kogarah Oval.
While it’s just as likely they’re poking fun at him—transfer jokes have been rife in the Kangaroos camp all Rugby League World Cup, after all—it does line up with all the rest of the whispers surrounding the Figtree product.
Bostock has been able to negotiate with rival clubs for a 2028 contract since November 1, and told the Dolphins he wants to move to Sydney after his deal. While he likes Redcliffe, most of his family is in New South Wales.
The Dragons are in pole position (and have already won, if you ask the Australian team today), but there are several other suitors still circling, too. The Cronulla Sharks have been heavily interested, and the Newcastle Knights and Parramatta Eels are both keeping an eye on the situation as it unfolds as well.
Those latter clubs will only strike if Bradman Best picks the other: right now, he’s deciding between $1 million from the Eels or $800,000 and “loyalty” with the Knights.
Bostock is one of two superstar names very likely to leave Redcliffe this offseason, with the Sydney Roosters having spoken to Herbie Farnworth about playing in the tricolours from 2028 onward. Unless anything happens at the eleventh hour, The Sporting Base understands that deal is quite close.
Elsewhere, Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow has re-signed with the Dolphins for several more years.
