Nelly Korda of Bradenton, Florida continues to be the leader at the 2026 Chevron Championship in Houston, Texas. On Saturday, Korda shot a score of two-under-par 70 and is now at -16.
Korda had four birdies and two bogeys on Saturday in round three. She birdied the first, second, fifth and sixth holes, and bogeyed the eighth and 13th holes.
There were a couple of interesting notes from Korda’s round. She actually posted a score of six on the eighth hole as the eighth hole was a par five. Korda also did not post a birdie on any of the final 12 holes, which could give the field some confidence heading into the final round on Sunday.
Korda’s comfortable lead at this time is five strokes. The golfer in second place is Bangkok, Thailand’s Patty Tavatanakit, who shot a third round score of three-under-par 69, and is at -11.
Korda is looking for her third career LPGA major. The previous two major titles came at the 2021 Women’s PGA Championship and 2024 Chevron Championship.
What we see heading into the final round on Sunday will be a story of Korda versus the field. According to Ryan Ballengee of thegolfnewsnet.com, Korda was the clear favourite heading into the championship at +500. Now, it is obvious that unless disaster strikes, it is Korda’s tournament to lose this time around.
One thing to keep in mind heading into the final round however, is the fact that Korda has had a terrible round at a major before. She has posted a score of 81 at the 2013 United States Women’s Open inn Southampton, the 2014 Kraft Nabisco Championship in Rancho Mirage, and the 2024 Women’s PGA Championship in Seattle.
