Stephen Curry sets NBA record for most three-pointers made in a month

Stephen Curry of Akron, Ohio continued his sensational 2020-21 National Basketball Association season on Sunday. Curry broke the NBA record for most three-point shots made in a month (85) in a 117-113 Warriors win over the Sacramento Kings according to the Canadian Press. The previous record was set by James Harden of Los Angeles, California, who had 82 three-pointers with the Houston Rockets in November of 2019.

So far in the month of April, Curry had five three-pointers in a 116-109 Warriors loss to the Miami Heat on April 1; three three-pointers in a 117-111 Warriors loss to the Atlanta Hawks on April 4; five three-pointers in a 122-121 Warriors win over the Milwaukee Bucks on April 6; five three-pointers in a 110-107 Warriors loss to the Washington Wizards on April 9; eight three-pointers in a 125-109 Warriors win over the Houston Rockets on April 10; 10 three-pointers in a 116-107 Warriors win over the Denver Nuggets on April 12; 11 three-pointers in a 147-109 Warriors win over the Oklahoma City Thunder on April 14; four three-pointers in a 119-101 Warriors win over the Cleveland Cavaliers on April 15; 11 three-pointers in a 119-114 Warriors loss to the Boston Celtics on April 17; 10 three-pointers in a 107-96 Warriors win over the Philadelphia 76ers on April 19; two three-pointers in a 118-114 Warriors loss to the Wizards on April 21; four three-pointers in a 118-97 Warriors win over the Nuggets on April 23; and seven three-pointers in Sunday’s win over the Kings.

On the season, Curry has made 273 three-pointers, which leads the NBA by a wide margin. Buddy Hield of the Kings is second with 242 three-points made. Earlier this month, Curry set the NBA record for the most three-pointers in a span of five games in NBA history with 46.

The Warriors meanwhile are currently 10th in the Western Conference with a record of 31 wins and 30 losses. Most years that would not be good enough for the playoffs. However this year, the ninth and 10th placed teams in each conference qualify for a play-in round.

Curry has two more games in April to improve on the record. Golden State plays the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday and the Minnesota Timberwolves on Thursday.
