Michael Brennan won the Baycurrent Classic in Japan on Sunday, closing with a three-under 68 for a 16-under total of 268 to edge Keith Mitchell and Jacob Bridgeman by one stroke, while Australians Min Woo Lee and Adam Scott finished tied ninth and tied 13th.
According to Golfweek and the ESPN PGA Tour leaderboard, the 24-year-old American sealed his third PGA Tour title in just 33 career starts at Yokohama Country Club. Mitchell and Bridgeman finished at 15 under; a group including defending champion Xander Schauffele and Stephan Jaeger tied for fourth at 13 under.
How Brennan closed it out
Golfweek reported Brennan birdied the 11th and 12th to take the lead, then played the last six holes in par. His only bogey of the round came at the 10th. He hit all 15 fairways in the final round and led the field in Strokes Gained: Off the Tee for the week, Golfweek said.
Mitchell was five under through seven holes but failed to birdie after the eighth and missed a 10-foot birdie putt at the 18th that would have forced a share of the lead, settling for a 68, Golfweek reported. Jaeger shared the lead at 16 under after a birdie at 13 before dropping three shots in the last five holes.
