On Wednesday, in the Lakers’ 121-107 win over the San Antonio Spurs, James recorded 26 points to lead the Lakers in scoring. In the process, James extended his consecutive-game streak with 10 or more points to 1000 games according to Dave McMenamin of ESPN. Michael Jordan had the previous record with 867 consecutive games with 10 or more points. James broke Jordan’s record in 2018.
What made James’s performance also special on Wednesday is the fact that he reached the milestone on his 36th birthday. James shares the same birthday as golf legend Tiger Woods, who turned 45 also on Wednesday.
The last time James did not have 10 points in a game was on January 5, 2007. At the time, James was with the Cleveland Cavaliers, and he only scored eight points in a 95-86 Cleveland win over the Milwaukee Bucks.
In 2020-21, James is averaging 23.4 points per game, 7.0 rebounds per game, 6.8 assists per game, a .473 field goal percentage, a .355 three-point percentage, and a .714 free throw percentage. James had a season-high 29 points on Tuesday in a 115-107 Lakers loss to the Portland Trail Blazers.
