Lay Of The Day: 5 Horses We Think You Should Lay At Randwick & Caulfield

CAULFIELD RACE 2 –  OLD FLAME

• Trainer: Team Snowden
• Jockey: J Kah
• Barrier: 4
• Price: $2.88 @ Betfair

He looks too short in the market with the J.Kah factor kicking in. He’s got to give weight to capable and under-rated gallopers in Jimmy The Bear and Cardinal Gem, who represent better value.

CAULFIELD RACE 5 –  SARACEN KNIGHT

• Trainer: D O’Brien
• Jockey: J Kah
• Barrier: 2
• Price: $5.10 @ Betfair

He’s being taken on in the market and there’s a good reason for that as he doesn’t represent value. He’s fit and can handle the heavy but when he won at Mornington last start he had the race presented to him. This is a lot harder.

CAULFIELD RACE 8 – BERKELEY SQUARE

• Trainer: D O’Sullivan
• Jockey: C Williams
• Barrier: 7
• Price: $5.40 @ Betfair

He’s a gifted galloper but he’s got a bit against him. There’s a query on the tempo and he’s likely to be worse than mid-field in the run. Obviously can win but looks a risk at $5.40.

RANDWICK RACE 7 – SHARP ‘N’ SMART

• Jockey: B Melham
• Barrier: 2
• Price: $6.00 @ Betfair

Talented Kiwi who scraped in when he resumed in New Zealand. He’s taking on some fit and talented horses in this and looks a risk.

RANDWICK RACE 9 – POLLY GREY

• Trainer: C Waller
• Jockey: T Berry
• Barrier: 14
• Price: $5.00 @ Betfair

She’s a swimmer and her recent first-up form has been encouraging but she’s still only won once first-up attempts and she’s now an eight-year-old. From barrier 14 she doesn’t look any value.
