Lay Of The Day: 5 Horses We Think You Should Lay At Newcastle & Cranbourne 22/10
November 11, 2022
Our analyst has put together a list of five horses he thinks you should ‘lay’ at Newcastle & Cranbourne tomorrow.
*Note:
In horse racing, when you lay a horse, you win if any other horse in the race comes first. If the horse you bet against wins then you lose and have to pay the backer his winnings.
NEWCASTLE RACE 6 –Â Â GLOBAL AUSBRED
- Trainer: B Widdup
- Jockey: H Bowman
- Barrier: 4
- Price: $3.95 @ Betfair
He’s been heavily backed and has probably got in too short. He had his chance to win at Rosehill but was over-powered late. He’s also taking on some handy horses.
NEWCASTLE RACE 7 – SAVEADATEFORME
- Trainer: J O’Shea
- Jockey: T Berry
- Barrier: 10
- Price: $3.50 @ Betfair
He looked impressive charging away from his rivals to win at Goulburn last start to make it two wins in a row and two wins from three starts. He’s got a lot of potential but he’s taking on some other horses on the up. Again he looks too short.

CRANBOURNE RACE 2 – DUNKEL
- Trainer: P Payne
- Jockey: H Coffey
- Barrier: 3
- Price: $2.16 @ Betfair
Looked good winning his debut against moderate opposition in maiden class over 1600 metres at Moonee Valley. Steps up to an open three-year-old race on a firm track and has to take on a horse like Skyphios who will relish the firm surface.
CRANBOURNE RACE 3 – KISSINGER
- Trainer: L Smith
- Jockey: D Oliver
- Barrier: 6
- Price: $3.20 @ Betfair
Yes, the weights point to him winning as he meets Port Philip 5.5 kilos better for a nose defeat at Caulfield last start. Port Philip though has since just been beaten by a Melbourne Cup placegetter in High Emocean in the Bendigo Cup. Port Philip’s trainer Julius Sandhu also said he would be better suited by a firm track.
