According to Chris Biderman of The Sacramento Bee on Friday, the San Francisco 49ers will have their next two home games of the 2020 National Football League regular season in Arizona. The 49ers will play the games at the Cardinals’ venue of State Farm Stadium in Glendale. The first game will be on December 7 against the Buffalo Bills, and the second game will be on December 13 against the Washington Football Team.
Both of those dates were available to the 49ers because the Cardinals were hosting the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, December 6, and then they are to travel to New York and play the Giants on December 13. The 49ers could no longer play in Santa Clara County because of new county coronavirus regulations that disallowed contact sports. The regulations are in place for the next three weeks.
Do not be surprised at all if San Francisco plays the Seattle Seahawks in the final regular season game in Arizona on January 3 too. That is because the Cardinals do not need their stadium that day either as they finish their regular season in Los Angeles against the Rams.
Coronavirus has hit the state of California extremely hard recently. There have been 1,302, 203 total cases of coronavirus in California, with 19,684 deaths. However, the total number of active cases is extremely alarming. There are presently 679, 981 cases of coronavirus in California, and 10,989 new cases.
The 49ers meanwhile have a record of five wins and six losses, and are last in the NFC West. Ironically, they are only one game back of the Cardinals for the final playoff spot in the conference. The 49ers also have a ton of momentum. In their last game, they upset the Rams 23-20.
