According to Josh Weinstein of The Score on Wednesday, three was a blockbuster trade between the Denver Nuggets and Washington Wizards. The Nuggets traded shooting guard Will Barton of Baltimore, Maryland and point guard Monte Morris of Grand Rapids, Michigan to the Wizards for Kentavious Caldwell-Pope of Thomaston, Georgia and point guard Ish Smith of Charlotte, North Carolina.

Barton averaged 14.7 points per game, 4.8 rebounds per game and 3.9 assists per game in 2021-22. He had a field goal percentage of .438, three-point percentage of .365 and a free throw percentage of .803. The Wizards become Barton’s third National Basketball Association team following three seasons with the Portland Trail Blazers and eight seasons with the Denver Nuggets.



Morris averaged 12.6 points per game, 4.4 assists per game, and three rebounds per game in 2021-22. He had a field goal percentage of .484, three point percentage of .395 and a free throw percentage of .869. Morris spent his first five NBA seasons with the Nuggets.

Caldwell-Pope averaged 13.2 points per game. 3.4 rebounds per game and 1.9 assists per game. He had a field goal percentage of .435, three-point percentage of .390, and free throw percentage of .890. Caldwell-Pope has previously played four seasons with Detroit, four seasons with Los Angeles and one season with Washington.

Smith, a point guard, had been a NBA journeyman. He has previously played with the Houston Rockets, Memphis Grizzlies, Golden State Warriors, Orlando Magic, Milwaukee Bucks, Phoenix Suns, Oklahoma City Thunder, Philadelphia 76ers, New Orleans Pelicans, Detroit Pistons, Washington Wizards and Charlotte Hornets. This past year in Washington, Smith averaged 6.3 points per game with the Hornets and Wizards.
