Lamar Jackson throws longest TD pass of his career
November 9, 2024

Thursday night had one of the best National Football League games of the entire season as the Baltimore Ravens defeated the Cincinnati Bengals 35-34 at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, Maryland. This game had simply everything. High octane offense, a key defensive stop when it mattered most, and even a missed convert by the game’s most reliable kicker.
Along the way, Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson of Pompano Beach, Florida recorded a personal high. With one minute and 30 seconds into the fourth quarter, Jackson threw an 84-yard touchdown to Ravens wide receiver Tylan Wallace of Fort Worth, Texas for the longest touchdown pass of his career. At the time, the Ravens pulled within a single point, at 21-20 Cincinnati. This was the touchdown where Ravens kicker Justin Turner missed the extra point.
Now you have to put a few things into perspective when analyzing this play. Jackson’s throw to Wallace was actually only five yards, and 79 yards came after the catch. The Bengals defense has been awful all season. They have given up 262 points. Only the Carolina Panthers (293 points) have given up more.
The Ravens defense has not been very good either. They have given up 253 points on the season. The reason why the Ravens are 7-3 has been because of their offense, and at times, timely defense. In the final minute, the Bengals decided to go for the win while trailing 35-34. Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow had just thrown his third touchdown pass to Ja’Marr Chase of Harvey, Louisiana, but Burrow threw an incomplete pass to Tanner Hudson on a two-point conversion attempt.
The Bengals could not win on Thursday even though Chase had 264 receiving yards against Baltimore. In the process, Chase set the NFL record for most receiving yards against one team in a season with 457. What is noteworthy is when Chase had 193 receiving yards against the Ravens on October 6, they lost that game too, 41-38 in overtime.
