Juventus Move Could be Huge for Canada Striker Jonathan David

Jonathan David has become one of the most sought-after strikers in Europe in recent years, and Juventus beat various other top clubs to secure his signature. David is now signed to the Serie A club until at least 2030, and could take his game to the next level with the Italian giants.

There’s no doubt that this move is excellent for the player, and he could now go on to become one of the top attackers in Europe. This is great news for Canada too, who will need him firing on all cylinders at next summer’s World Cup.

David Has Massively Impressed in Ligue 1

David has left Lille as one of the club’s most impressive players in recent years, providing an excellent return on investment after his €30 million from Gent in 2020. The 25 year old bagged 87 league goals in 178 appearances for the French club, and also showed his adaptability across a range of attacking positions.

Thanks to David’s prolific performances and the fact that he can play as an out-and-out striker or attacking midfielder, the Canadian has often been at the center of transfer speculation during his time in Ligue 1. Juventus had been pursuing him for some time before the deal eventually went through, and they had to fight off interest from several massive clubs across Europe’s top divisions in the battle to secure his signature.

Indeed, the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool, and Barcelona have all been reportedly keeping tabs on David in recent years. According to some rumors, the player’s preferred destination was Old Trafford, where he could have had a chance at firing the Red Devils back up the Premier League. This could still be his ambition, which may fuel his desire to impress in Serie A.

Player Signed to Serie A Club Until at Least 2030

David ultimately ended up joining Juventus on a free transfer after his contract with Lille expired, and he will now be hoping he can follow in the footsteps of some of the club’s greats such as Cristiano Ronaldo. He’ll initially be at the club until 2030, with an annual net salary of around €6 million.

Currently, experts at JuveFC expect David to lead the line for Juventus in a 3-4-2-1 formation, with support from Kenan Yildiz and Teun Koopmeiners in attack. However, he also offers Igor Tudor a range of options and the manager may seek to add other players that can complement the Canadian.

Aside from being a step-up for David and offering him the chance to become a global star, this looks like a shrewd move for Juventus as well. The Serie A side are getting a player who, despite the incredible stats to date, hasn’t even entered his prime yet. They should be getting his best years out of David in the next five years, and Tudor could be about to build his team around him.

Likely to Have a Big Impact at the World Cup

Canada may be best known for typical North American sports like basketball and ice hockey, but they will be hoping to shock many people at the World Cup next summer. As one of the three hosts alongside the USA and Mexico, Canada have a free pass to the tournament, meaning that they can focus on preparations rather than worry about the qualifying process.

According to odds from Betway, Canada are long shots to win the competition at 125/1 as of the 16th of July. However, some people might view this as an opportunity to use a risk-free deposit match bet, as there is a chance that the Canadians will cause a few upsets. That’s especially true if David has elevated his game to become one of the best strikers in the world by that time – which is possible if he hits the ground running at Juventus.

David’s move to Juventus could be the biggest transfer of the summer so far. The player has been amazing at Lille so far in his career, but his prime years are still ahead of him. Playing for a prestigious club like Juventus could allow David to become a world-class striker, and he may even push Canada on to greatness next summer at the World Cup.
