J.T. Poston of Hickory, North Carolina won the 2026 Memorial Tournament at the Muirfield Village Golf Club in Columbus, Ohio on Sunday. For the second straight week a playoff was needed to determine a champion on the PGA Tour. A week ago Russell Henley of Macon, Georgia defeated Eric Cole of Orlando, Florida at the Charles Schwab Challenge. Then on Sunday, Poston posted a 72 hole score of -12 and beat Ryan Gerard of Raleigh, North Carolina in a two-hole playoff.
Poston had scores of par on the 18th hole twice in the playoff. Gerard had a par on the first playoff hole, but could not record a par score on the second playoff hole as he missed a putt of eight feet and five inches.
During the tournament, Poston had a first round score of two-under-par 70, a second round score of seven-under-par 65, a third round score of three-under-par 69, and a fourth round score of even.
Poston had a comfortable four stroke lead on Gerard heading into the fourth round. However, Gerard caught up to Poston by posting a score of four-under-par 68.
Three more golfers were in contention at the 2026 Memorial Tournament. Wyndham Clark of Denver, Colorado, the 2023 US Open champion, was one stroke back at -11 and in third place. Meanwhile, Tommy Fleetwood of Southport, England and Sam Burns of Shreveport, Louisiana were tied for fourth place at -10 and two strokes back.
This was Poston’s fourth career win on the PGA Tour. He previously won the 2019 Wyndham Championship, the 2022 John Deere Championship and the 2024 Shriner’s Children’s Open. With the win, Poston moves from 94th to 39th in the Official World Golf Rankings.
