Apprentice jockey Izzy Neale remains in a critical condition in Dubbo Hospital after a race fall at Warren on Sunday, and Racing NSW has postponed Monday’s meeting at Scone.
Racing NSW said in a statement on Monday morning that the Scone meeting had been postponed following consultation with the jockeys and trainers engaged to take part, and that Neale’s family was by her side.
“The decision follows the serious race fall involving apprentice jockey Izzy Neale at Warren yesterday,” the statement said.
“The thoughts and heartfelt support of Racing NSW and the entire racing community are with Izzy, her family, friends and colleagues during this extremely difficult time.”
Neale and fellow rider Diego Montes de Oca were dislodged from their mounts at around the 400m mark in Race 6 at Warren, according to Racing NSW’s injured jockeys report. Neale was airlifted to hospital, while Montes de Oca was taken to hospital by ambulance with a suspected broken left foot.
Neale was riding Marnoo in the Warren Shire Cotton Cup (1600m), with Montes de Oca aboard Shadow Dane, Just Horse Racing reported. Marnoo was euthanised after suffering a near foreleg injury, and stewards abandoned the final race on the Warren program.

Racing NSW confirmed Neale had lost consciousness after the fall, Nine reported. The 22-year-old has ridden 88 winners from 699 career starts, according to Nine.
Racing community rallies behind Neale
Messages of support flowed from across the industry on Sunday night. “Today was a tough day. My thoughts and prayers are with Izzy, her family and many friends. Hug your loved ones and tell someone you love them. We’re all just doing our best in life,” racing analyst Ben Walker wrote on social media, as reported by Yahoo Sport Australia.
It has been a difficult spring for jockey safety. Ohope Wins was euthanised after a fall in the Caulfield Cup last month, and jockey Mark Du Plessis suffered a badly broken leg in a three-horse fall at Ipswich last Thursday, Yahoo Sport Australia reported.
Racing NSW’s statement did not say when the Scone meeting would be run.
