Hae-ran Ryu of Yeongam-gun, South Korea has won the 2026 Women’s PGA Championship at the Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, Minnesota. This is the first major title in women’s golf for Ryu and fourth LPGA Tour win of her career.
Ryu previously won the 2023 Walmart Northwest Arkansas Championship, the 2024 FM Championship in Boston, Massachusetts, and the 2025 Black Desert Championship in Ivins, Utah. The Walmart Northwest Arkansas Championship is unique because it is only three rounds. When Ryu won the FM Championship, she defeated fellow South Korean Jin-young Ko in a playoff.
On Sunday, Ryu posted a winning score of -13. She defeated I-na Yoon of Jinju, South Korea by two strokes. Yoon finished at -11. There were then two other golfers who tied for third place at -10 and were three strokes back. They were Canadian Brooke Henderson and Dewi Weber of the Netherlands. Henderson was a two-time major champion as she won the 2016 Women’s PGA Championship in Sahalee, Washington and the 2022 Evian Championship.
It was on Saturday that Ryu took the lead from Yoon. In the third round, Ryu was seven strokes better than Yoon.
Ryu had a fourth round score of two-under par 70. She had five birdies and three bogeys. Ryu got off to a tough start as she bogeyed the first, fourth and fifth holes. She even lost her lead. However, Ryu birdied the third, seventh, ninth, 10th and 12th holes. The four birdies in the six hole stretch, as well clutch par puts during the back nine are the primary reasons why Ryu won $1.95 million.
