GRAVINA SET TO BOUNCE BACK
November 17, 2023
JAMES Cummings is expecting Gravina to return to his best in The Hunter at Newcastle after a poor first-up effort at Flemington.
Gravina didn’t fire a shot in the Rising Fast Stakes and finished last in a race he finished fifth in last year before he finished third in The Hunter.

Cummings had made a gear change taking the blinkers off Gravina and placing visors on for this start.
Cummings said he had seen Gravina’s form yo-yo before.
“The thing in Gravina’s favour is he’s a horse who has turned his form around quickly in the past,” Cummings said.

“I expected more of the horse and he disappointed me that day.”
“He went pretty poorly, but we made a little gear change and he just got squeezed coming out of the barriers and failed to chase hard.”
“He turned it around and produced a big effort for third in The Hunter at his next start.”
Cummings said Gravina had worked well during the week.

“He did come off a sustained campaign last time in work, so we’re hoping to see him get back into form down in the weights.”
Gravina is a $21 chance with PlayUp.
