Tiger Woods of Cypress, California, the 15-time major champion, needs more time to recover from his leg injury that he suffered from his 2021 car accident in Los Angeles according to the Canadian Press. As a result, he has decided to withdraw from the 2022 United States Open, which is scheduled to start on June 16 from Brookline, Massachusetts.

So far in 2022, Woods, who is currently ranked 881st in the Official World Golf Rankings, finished 47th at the Masters, before withdrawing from the PGA Championship. However, during the first two major championships, he was seen walking around the golf course with a considerable amount of pain.

Woods still hopes to attend the final major of the year, the 2022 British Open, which will take place at the legendary St. Andrews starting July 14. It is interesting that Woods is focused on this championship when you consider the fact that he is experiencing pain walking, and it is an ordeal for most people just to walk the hills of a European golf course. In addition to the British Open, Woods also plans to enter the JP McManus Pro-Am in Limerick, Ireland leading up to the final golf major of the year.

Through his career, Woods has won three United States Open tournaments in 2000, 2002, and 2008. Woods’s accomplishment at the 2000 United States Open in Pebble Beach was his greatest accomplishment in the history of his career. There he defeated Miguel Angel Jimenez of Spain and Ernie Els of South Africa by 15 strokes. Woods was the only player in the entire tournament under par at -12. Jimenez and Els were tied for second place at +3.
