FREE: Best Of The Best – Our 3 Best Bets For Melbourne Cup Day

We take a look at both Flemington and Sydney’s Kensington to try and find a few winners on Cup day!

Kensington Race 1 – Kermanding

Not often will there be a lot to get excited about with a horse stepping up from a provincial maiden win to the city but this Snowden colt looks to be on the promising side. He couldn’t of been more impressive settling at the rear and coming right over the top of them to score by 4.5L at Kembla last start.

The step up to 1800m looks like it’ll be ideal. Although the stats on soft look dodgy, a closer look shows that one was a fast closing 4th and Canterbury and the latest was a 4th at Kembla where he never saw daylight. He looks like he should be able to get the day off to a positive start.

Flemington Race 7 – Surprise Baby

There’s a good argument that if Surprise Baby didn’t draw barrier 20 in last year’s Cup then it wins. It settled at the rear and flew home to finish 0.9 lengths back in 5th. It has the barrier this year, should settle around midfield off a solid pace and if it can produce a similar run as a more mature 6 yo with 13 starts, then it could well win the Cup just like it’s father Shocking did in 2009.

Kensington Race 6 – Gone By

Gone Bye is a horse that has form in stronger races than what it faces today. He finished third behind Olympic Legend and Rock Amore last start, the latter of which it faces again today. Before that he was 1.7L behind Invinciano at this track. Last preparation he finished a nose behind Yonkers and within 3L of Bottega. He gets out to a mile here and has a great record at the journey, which is an advantage he holds over Rock Amore this time.

Tip: Gone Bye 2 units win @ $4.8 With TopSport
