Positive Impact is a really lightly raced, progressive horse for Lindsey Smith that has been super impressive in a short career to date. Gets out to the staying journey for the first time in a very moderate CL3 and was scratched from Saturday to save for this which is really sharp placement by the stable. He looks a very nice horse and is bred to get over this trip, looks very hard to beat, just a little short for me at the even money, should be winning.

A couple of debutants of interest here, firstly I would have just about been happy to declare Major Max here if he had of drawn a gate, but over the 1000m with the speed drawn underneath it could be a very sticky steer for Peter Knuckey so it’s not the way we will side up. Rupert’s Empire is the way I will go, trialled up really nicely I thought for Simon Miller and gets the blinkers on here for the debut after not having trialled in them, looks to have a real motor and if he can find cover in this field with plenty of speed engaged, he takes real holding out late.

With some luck I do want to be saving on Major Max, not many trial as impressively as he did and he looks a real nice horse in the making, nice prices to be able to back/save here in Race 4.

Really keen on this horses chances today, pen the first up effort when unsuited at the 1000m, was spat out the back from a bad draw and the wheels spun on the really wet track, he never looked interested but. The 2 trials prior to that effort up against much higher quality horses than what he faces here were super, and the wins in Geraldton last preparation were that of a horse that could certainly go to town and go on with it. Senior jockey goes on in Clint Johnston Porter, Blinkers go on, great draw and up to 1200m a distance he hasn’t been beaten at yet, he has by far the most upside in this field and for me, looks the best bet on a card where not a lot jumped out at me.
