Overcast, cooler day out West for today’s midweek meeting. Rail out 15m with a cutaway in the straight and track a good 4.

Race 2 – 2:19PM TABTOUCH – HAVE YOU GOT THE TOUCH MAIDEN (1000 METRES)

3. Trespassing – 12. Marmooga – 7. Supersession – 2. Renato

Comfortably the race of the day I thought, some really nice types going head to head over the five furlongs and suspect many of these won’t be maidens for too much longer.

Trespassing is a very nice Colt. The barrier makes things tricky, but probably no one else I’d rather have on board than the Pontiff in this situation. 2 career starts, on debut at black-type level beaten 2L Left The Building, Street Parade, Kosta’s Crown and All The King’s Men, beating home Snowdome and Saintorio then runner up behind Baby Paris beaten under 2L over the 1000m, getting over noted wet tracker Revitup late. That form streets anything these other horses bring to the table. Paul Harvey from the barrier is most likely made to try and tack onto that 3-4 wide moving line here to launch at them late down the middle off a nice little spell himself. Has had a nice little recent 400m jumpout to tick him over and a bit of luck with a trademark steer from the Pont, think he has the ability to get over these late.

Marmooga has been in my blackbook both times she has stepped out at the trials recently and holds tactical field position over the favourite. Been trialling very nicely without the Blinkers and gets them on here for the debut, Simon Miller has been having terrific success with that formula of late and likely going to be kicking myself I didn’t put her on top, massive danger.

Supersession has shown real ability at the trials too and gets the Blinkers on for the debut as well, suspect 1000m may be on the shorter side for him but he looks to have a real nice turn of acceleration.

Race 4 – 3:34PM AMELIA PARK HANDICAP (1200 METRES)

5. Kelvin – 4. Snippy Miss – 8. Rosebush – 2. First Law

Kelvin

Kelvin received some huge support in early betting, $14 became $6 almost instantaneously when TABTouch went up with Ain’t No Other Man still in the race prior to the scratching. Hasn’t been blessed by barriers so far this preparation, he’s going far better than it reads on paper and last start in that incredibly fast run race behind Halatorion on that incredibly hard and fast track just got run off his legs like many of them did. Most of his career in racing has been consistent in much better races than this at 66+ level, drawn soft in a race with really good speed engaged, CJP jumps on, I think there’s plenty to like about his chances to return to the winner’s stall in a race where you could potentially ask questions around how genuine the top 3 horses in the market are.

1.5 Units WIN

Think this race actually sets up nicely for Snippy Miss too. Loved the recent trial, she’s never far away, races well fresh and has a cutaway on offer from the inside draw, she’s dangerous late and can certainly win, just another who doesn’t necessarily like having her photo taken.

Kye Stewart is doing a terrific job with Rosebush, her last 3 runs have all been really good in some pretty deep races too. View TOPSPORT Racing Markets Here! View Our NEW Form Guide Here

Race 5 -4:10PM OWN THE DREAM REGISTRATIONS NOW OPEN HANDICAP (1400 METRES)

3. The Admiral – 8. Wunderkind – 4. Midnight Mystery – 1. Green And Shady

The Admiral

Really like the set-up here 2nd up for The Admiral. 1st up run in a really strong race from a figures perspective was good, hit the line full of running, always improves with the run under the belt and finds a race here from the low draw where Carbery has the option to either take up the running or just sit on the towball of Zac Luvs To Fly stalking. Albeit a maiden, bolted in 2nd up last preparation and think he certainly gets the run in transit he needs to break through again here. Marked him a touch over $3 and with the real lack of love from the market here (out to as much as $4.00 depending where you shop), happy to make him a good result.

2.5 Units WIN

Wunderkind hit the line really nicely into 3rd behind what I think is a nice horse in the making in Allmamoney, drawn to get a very economical run along the cutaway and gets a kilo and a half in her favour here for having run straight past Ninetyone Dwyer last start.

Midnight Mystery came in behind Zac Luvs To Fly at Pinjarra but clearly wasn’t ready, if that run brings her on she clearly has ability to be winning a race of this nature with the right set-up, not sure this is it however

Not sure what has happened to Green And Shady at her past couple, but all her form prior to that effort would just about win this race. Soft run up the cut-away, Taj Dyson in career best form, been some early support and I somewhat understand why. View TOPSPORT Racing Markets Here! View Our NEW Form Guide Here

Race 6 – 4:50PM WESTERN RACEPIX HANDICAP (1300 METRES)

4. Defiant Diorite – 11. Lucky’s Way – 3. Galancy – 12. Lady Tornado

Defiant Diorite

The Chris Willis stable could not be humming along any better at the moment and that’s the way we’ll side up here with Defiant Diorite. Drops back to a CL1 out of a Saturday 3yo race, loved the way he fought hard through the line beaten only 0.3L a nice filly in Feels Playful, with Saloon Bar and Laquetta’s Gift all very tightly bunched behind her. Beaten 2L Laquetta’s Gift and Gage Roads in his CL1 start prior (both of those have franked that form), beaten under 2L Brave Venture (subsequent Saturday winner) and Sabino (subsequent winner) with numerous runners behind him that day having raced well since as well. Drawn the inside for Alan Kennedy, carries no dead weight as a result and think this looks a terrific race for him to break through again this campaign and a very nice price to find out.

1.5 Units WIN

Lucky’s Way was too good for them on debut when still doing a bit wrong, sticky little draw for Carbery to contend with but since we first saw her at the trials she has shown plenty of promise.

Loved the way Galancy hit the line once he was able to get to the outside of runners last start, settled in front of subsequent winner Sabino and ran almost identical late splits to that galloper. Over the odds for mine and suited out to 1300m.

Race 7 – 5:30PM CROWN PERTH HANDICAP (2100 METRES)

3. Bandalera Miss – 2. Blue Card – 5. Private Scene – 11. Masaru

Thought this looked a proper two horse race for the stayers to end proceedings today.

Bandalera Miss

Tight at the top of the market and for good reason, but going to side with class of CJP here with Bandalera Miss even from the wide draw. She cantered up 3 deep the trip last start on a tempo 8.5L faster than the class average and quite simply never gave it away, beaten only 2.5L at the post, it was a huge run and while the barrier again doesn’t help here, Johnston Porter takes the reigns in a race that looks to have far less tempo on paper. Suspect he tries to find a back to follow and to get her rolling from the 600m, even luck and suspect she will be too strong for these, ready to win.

3 Units WIN

Blue Card

The Big danger. Racing very well this preparation and the barrier is a big help in a race that looks devoid of real early speed on paper. Attacked the line super at the business end of a very strong run 2200m last start when he was able to find clear galloping room. Happy to back/chop out the pair.
