FREE: Ascot Selections & Staking Plan: Thursday 31st March

Keen on a few here today at Ascot on a Thursday heading into the weekend. Looks to be a beautiful day for racing.

Race 1 – 2:22PM GLENROY CHAFF MAIDEN (1000 METRES)

4. Better In Kit – 3. Lexington City – 7. Snip’s Rock – 1. Born To Talk

Race 2 – 2:57PM AMELIA PARK LODGE PLATE (1400 METRES)

1. All The King’s Men – 5. Aiyza – 3. Mack Mack – 7. Beach West

All The King’s Men

Trevor Andrews has scratched from the Karrakatta on Saturday (where he would have been uber competitive) for this and think he just looks so well placed as a result. The way he has been racing he has been screaming out for the 1400m and in the 6 horse field can park up in behind them not too far away from the speed and think he will prove to be the best horse in this race and the most experienced. A great trial heading towards the Sires.

2.5 Units WIN @BSP

Race 3 – 3:30PM CROWN PERTH MAIDEN (1400 METRES)

2. Steel’s The Deel – 6. Birdieagle – 5. Double Thumbs Up – 8. Takemehometonight

Race 4 – 4:00PM TABTOUCH BETTER YOUR BET HANDICAP (1200 METRES)

1. No Dice – 3. My Marlaina – 2. Mosquito – 6. Testifying

No Dice

Another without much meat on the bone, but think No Dice takes care of these. Comes from much stronger races than this where he has been acquitting himself really well, with form around Saturday winners Metallon and State Of Power. Small field, no real tempo, Carbery should be able to park on them and when they bunch wheel him to the centre of the track where he can display his very handy turn of foot which should be more than enough to be getting past these, keen.

2 Units WIN @BSP

Race 5 – 4:30PM HEINEKEN 3 HANDICAP (1200 METRES)

3. Dream Evil – 1. Featherweight – 4. Miss Quoted – 8. Patchwork

Dream Evil

Had been trialling super into the fresh run and took that trial form to the races when winning really well over Critical Altitude who has since raced well in a much stronger race than this. That win rated super strong on figures, and see no reason why I should drop off here, has been well-supported in early markets and outside Featherweight, I struggle to see who can prove stiff enough opposition to stop him repeating the dose.

2 Units WIN

Featherweight

Going to have a saver here at BSP on Featherweight, who I thought off a long spell was really good 1st up behind My Mate who has since won again yesterday at Pinjarra. An expensive yearling, I’ve really liked this horse who has always shown glimpses but struggled for consistency in his 2YO year. Potential for 2nd up blues, but think he is going to furnish into a nice 3YO and should get a good run on-speed.

1 Unit WIN

Race 6 – 5:00PM FURPHY HANDICAP (1400 METRES)

1. Market Stryke – 6. Kentucky Blue – 3. The Coolakin King – 2. Parlare

Kentucky Blue

Big price, but can’t go around without having something on Kentucky Blue. With the potential that the favourite and The Coolakin King chop at each other out in front, I absolutely loved the recent trial of Kentucky Blue closing really strongly from the back under light riding. Looks like a horse who has improved and is in for a really good prep. $16.00 more than enough to be on small if the on-speed brigade are vulnerable late.

0.5 Units WIN

Race 7 – 5:30PM MORLEY GROWERS MARKET HANDICAP (1800 METRES)

10. All In A Day – 4. Elite Fighter – 6. Hezapro – 1. Kerman Rock
