The field is in for the G1 C.F. Orr Stakes

A field of 10 is set to contest the C.F. Orr Stakes at Caulfield on Saturday headlined by Cox Plate winner Sir Dragonet.

Speaking earlier this week on RSN 927 trainer Ciaron Maher suggested the decision to run the Cox Plate winner will be weather dependent.

“It’ll come down to how much rain and what the track condition is as to whether he takes his spot or not,” said Maher.

The barrier certainly won’t be a reason to pull out with jockey Glen Boss given a plethora of options from barrier 3.

Another horse who has drawn well in 4 is the most intriguing runner of the field in 3-year-old Crosshaven. The Lindsay Park runner was favourite in the pre-noms market before the surprise nomination of Sir Dragonet.

Crosshaven ran a gallant 4th in last years Caulfield Guineas before going on to beat Aysar in the Carbine Club Stakes over Melbourne Cup week.

Also set to take to his place is last start Group 2 winner Streets of Avalon. While Group 1 stars kick off their campaign in Humidor and Fifty Stars.
