After an impressive win in the Group 3 Manion Cup last start, Favourite Moon put his name right in contention for his maiden Group 1 in tomorrow’s Sydney Cup.
William Haggas Racing’s stable representative Isabella Paul is confident their Sydney Cup hope can deliver in the Group 1 speaking on RSN earlier today.
“His coat came through really well after the run; he looks fantastic and had a blow with Tom yesterday morning and was very good, hopefully he can run a really big race,” said Paul.
Favourite Moon faces the 3200 test for the first time tomorrow, one in which former stablemate Young Rascal struggled to complete in last year’s Sydney Cup, but Paul is optimistic their runner this year can run out the trip.
“His pedigree would suggest he would definitely stay, we’re not too worried about the step up to two miles, probably the bigger worry was the Manion and whether the mile and a half would be a bit sharp for him.”

Another query for the English import is the expected Good track which he meets for the first time.
“We’ll just have to see how that plays out really, we’d rather it be softer and we’re still all dancing about hoping for some rain, hoping something comes off the coast and hits Randwick.”
