St George Illawarra are going to go hard to bring Jack Bostock back to Wollongong, with the Dragons expected to make a big money offer for the Kangaroos debutant if he hits free agency.
The Dolphins are still trying to re-sign Bostock before the 24-year-old can speak to every NRL team from November 1 onward, but it’s looking more and more unlikely that a deal will be done before then — especially with Bostock in Australia camp for the World Cup and coach Kristian Woolf away with Tonga.

“It’s still getting figured out now with my manager and the Dolphins. Obviously, being in [Kangaroos camp] doesn’t help the cause, but my manager’s on to it all, so whatever happens, we’ll finalise soon,” Bostock said this week.
“Being in here has made it a little bit difficult because we can’t all meet up… It’s not been the easiest road to sort of get there, but it’s in the works,” he added.
That situation is perfect for the Dragons, desperate to pick up at least one marquee outside back and, with Clint Gutherson, Valentine Holmes, Moses Suli, and Kyle Flanagan all likely off the books after 2027, the cash to do it, too.
The joint venture does have playmakers like Luke Metcalf, Kodi Nikorima, Phillip Sami, and Scott Drinkwater joining soon, but wants more star power in the centres.
The list of superstar options coming into free agency includes some monster names, like Bradman Best, Latrell Mitchell, Tom Trbojevic, and James Tedesco, but Bostock has been highlighted as St George’s top pick because he came through the club’s ranks before leaving while Anthony Griffin was in charge.
Bostock may well be open to the move as well, considering change is in the air in Wollongong and he’s played there before. “I’m not too sure just yet,” he said on Monday when asked whether he was definitely going to re-sign, “but I definitely do want to chat to the Dolphins and get that all rolling.”
Bostock will next debut for Australia (on the wing) when they play New Zealand on Thursday.
