We are now at the midway point of the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo in 2021. The big story from the Olympic Games so far from an Australian perspective has been the fact Aussie swimmers have indeed delivered (18 medals compared to only 10 medals at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro). There is one more day left in the pool for the Australian Olympians to expand on that count.

Swimming– Finals start @ 11:30 A.M. AEST

There are five more swimming events left at the Tokyo Aquatics Centre, and there are four more chances for Australian medals. In the women’s 50 metre freestyle final (11:37 a.m.), Emma McKeon will swim in lane four, and Cate Campbell is in lane seven. McKeon, who won the gold medal in the women’s 100m freestyle and the women’s 4×100 metre freestyle, will be looking for her sixth medal at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo in 2021. Australia is also in each medley relay final (lane three for the women at 12:15 pm and lane seven for the men at 12:36 pm).

Cycling–Men’s BMX Freestyle Racing @ 12:20 P.M. AEST

There will be great excitement from an Australian perspective in the men’s BMX Freestyle Racing competition, as Logan Martin of Logan is a gold medal contender. His resume includes being a  two-time X Games gold medalist, and gold medalist at the 2021 UCI Urban Cycling World Championships. While we have had BMX racing in the Olympics since the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, this is the first time we have had BMX Freestyle Racing.

Sailing– Men’s Laser Medal Race @ 3:33 P.M. AEST

Australia will be looking to medal in the first sailing event that is awarding medals at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo in 2021. Matt Wearn of Perth is a legitimate medal contender, as he has won a silver medal at the last three Laser World Championships.
