CYLINDER READY TO FIRE

JAMES Cummings has assessed Cylinder as absolutely primed for his attack on the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes at Flemington.

“Cylinder pulled up fantastic from The Everest and he should be ready to launch in the Coolmore Stud Stakes,” Cummings said.

Cummings is aiming to make it successive wins in the Coolmore Stud Stakes as his three-year-old filly In Secret won it last year.

The Coolmore Stud Stakes is a stallion making race and Cummings said Cylinder’s preparation has been timed for him to peak in it and that he was the stable’s best three-year-old.

Cummings said it was important for Cylinder’s CV that he could win a Group 1 race.

“I feel like the horse is absolutely perfect in himself and ready to run his best race,” he said.

“He’s got the attributes of a top-liner, he’s got the equal parts, he’s tough, resilient as well as brilliant and loaded with ability.”

Cummings said Cylinder would have to produce his best form to win such a competitive race.

Cylinder has drawn barrier 14 and will be ridden by Tim Clark.

“It’s the first time up the straight for Cylinder, but that should not be capable of preventing him from winning the race.”

“He just needs to absolutely run his best race and he should be right up there with the main competitive chances and give himself the opportunity to convert in a time-honoured G1.”

Cylinder is $4.40 favourite with PlayUp.
