CUMMINGS READY TO DIRECT TRAFFIC IN THE DIAMOND

JAMES Cummings hasn’t won a Blue Diamond Stakes yet and is being represented by a longshot in Traffic Warden who is ready to run a big race according to the trainer.

“Saturday will give us a very good guide to where we are at, but he is an interesting runner and I expect him to run a very good race,” Cummings said on SEN Track.
Cummings pointed out that Traffic Warden has already won at Caulfield and he also has form against Australia’s best two-year-old Storm Boy.

“One thing I’d say about Traffic Warden is that he’s got the Storm Boy form and he brought it down to Melbourne to win at his first look around Caulfield,
despite doing a few things wrong.”

At his debut Traffic Warden finished second to Storm Boy at Rosehill being beaten 2.3 lengths. He then won at Caulfield before being freshened up and he returned with a third placing behind Prost at Rosehill.

“He brings interesting form, but he’s a big price for a reason and he’s going to need to improve a couple of significant steps in this Blue Diamond.”
Traffic Warden is $34 with PlayUp and will be ridden by Craig Williams.

“He’s trained solidly and the horse is a very capable galloper and is improving.”
Cummings also suggested Kallos could be the right horse and have the right draw in the Oakleigh Plate.

“Nevertheless, he does have 58kg in a G1 handicap, giving 8kg away to the very progressive King’s Gambit (carrying 50kgs).”

“He’s got his work cut out for him and yet I wouldn’t be shocked to see him run a race.”
