Chiefs trade L’Jarius Sneed to Titans
March 26, 2024

According to Jeff Fedotin of Forbes on Saturday, the Kansas City Chiefs have traded cornerback L’Jarious Sneed of Minden, Louisiana to the Tennessee Titans. In return the Chiefs received a third round draft pick in the 2025 National Football League Draft. There will also be a swap of seventh round draft picks in 2024 as part of the deal.
Sneed has spent his entire career with the Chiefs. In 2023, he had 78 combined tackles (60 solo tackles and 18 assisted tackles), five tackles for a loss, three quarterback hits, two interceptions for four yards, 14 pass deflections and one fumble recovery. Sneed’s fumble recovery came in a 17-9 Chiefs win over the Jacksonville Jaguars on September 17.
It is the postseason where Sneed had a significant impact. He was part of the Chiefs teams that won the Super Bowl in 2023 and 2024. In Super Bowl LVII, a 38-35 Chiefs win over the Philadelphia Eagles, Sneed had two pass deflections and seven combined tackles (four solo tackles and three assisted tackles). Then in Super Bowl LVIII, a 25-22 Chiefs win over the San Francisco 49ers, Sneed had three combined tackles (two solo tackles and one assisted tackle) and one pass deflection.
The trade has surprised many in the football world. Not only by the fact that the Chiefs traded their elite secondary player, but that they got so little for him in return. Sneed has spent his entire career in Kansas City since being drafted in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft out of Louisiana Tech. It will be interesting to see if the Chiefs make any more transactions in the near future in regards to their secondary.
