The Cleveland Cavaliers are in the 2026 National Basketball Association Eastern Conference Finals. On Sunday night at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan, the Cavaliers pounded the Detroit Pistons 125-94.
Four Cavaliers had double digits in points. Interestingly these four Cavaliers all eclipsed 20 points. Shooting guard Donovan Mitchell of Elmsford, New York had 26 points, center Jarrett Allen of San Diego, California had 23 points, shooting guard Sam Merrill of Salt Lake City, Utah had 23 points off the bench, and power forward Evan Mobley of San Diego, California had 21 points. The 23 points for Allen and Merrill were both postseason career-highs. Mobley had the double-double as he had 12 rebounds.
For the second straight game, the winning team won all four quarters. Cleveland outscored Detroit 31-22 in the first quarter, 33-25 in the second quarter, 35-26 in the third quarter, and 26-21 in the fourth quarter.
This was also the third straight game the road team, was victorious. The road team success came after the home team won the first four games of the best out of seven series. In game five, Cleveland won 117-113 in Detroit, and in game six the Pistons won 115-94 in Cleveland.
The Cavaliers did an excellent job in defending Pistons superstar Cade Cunningham. The former first overall pick missed all seven three point attempts and was a terrible -32 on the court.
Cleveland will now play the New York Knicks in the Eastern Conference Final. Game one is at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Tuesday night. However, before that, we have game one of the Western Conference Final between the San Antonio Spurs and Oklahoma City Thunder, which starts Monday night.
