Saul Canelo Alvarez is just too good.
The Mexican became the first super middleweight to unify all the belts in the history of the sport of boxing and in doing so ended Caleb Plant’s undefeated record.
In what was a tough fight, Canelo was in control for most parts of the bout, landing shots and showcasing his defence while Plant was still able to show why he is a force to be reckoned with.
Despite the battle, Canelo found his groove and landed two knockdowns on the 11th round, however, once Plant went down for the first time, he truly was unable to recover from the damage.
It was a momentous occasion and Canelo is continuing to stamp claim as one of boxing’s greatest ever fighters while holding the P4P king status.
With all the tension in the lead up to the title unification with the Mexican saying it was the angriest he has ever been, Canelo and Plant embraced each other following the finish.
It is difficult to see what stands in Canelo’s path and what his future looks like, what we do know is that whoever stands in the Mexican’s way, will need to offer something great.
