Buccaneers @ Bears: Our Expert Tips & Staking Plan

Well week four was pretty incredible. Last week’s Thursday game saw us go a perfect 3/3 and set us up for another profitable week. Today we get one of the best Thursday games so far with a battle of 3-1 teams in the Buccaneers and Bears.

Another tough test for Foles

Backing against the Bears last week was my favourite bet of the week, and probably the season so far. I felt like there was going to be a big overreaction to Nick Foles coming in when in reality, he just isn’t that great of a quarterback. The Colts defence completely throttled them and Tampa Bay can do similar here. Football Outsiders have the Colts as the number one defence in football this week – the only team ahead of the Bucs. While Foles may look a little better in his second week as starter, don’t expect miracles against another fearsome defensive unit.

Injury issues for the Bucs

The big issue right now for Tampa Bay is who Tom Brady will be throwing to. Chris Godwin and Justin Watson are already out and Mike Evans is questionable with an ankle injury. Evans has been banged up all season but has played through it and with good effect. The Bucs get 10 days off after this so I would expect him to play through it once again. Without Evans the offence will be very tight end heavy. Rob Gronkowski and Cameron Brate will join Scotty Miller as Brady’s main weapons. That unit can certainly get it done but it will make things harder. Miller could put up some big numbers with or without Evans.

Defence gets it done for the Bucs

There are question marks on both teams this week. But one unit has none and that is the Tampa Bay defence. Even if the offence can’t match the 32 points per game from the past three weeks, they can hold Foles and the Bears down and that will be enough for them. It isn’t a game I want to go crazy on and will stick to one unit bets, but the Bucs should be too strong for a Chicago team that isn’t as good as its record suggests.
