Browns QB Deshaun Watson out for the season

According to the Cleveland Browns X Account on Wednesday, Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson of Gainesville, Georgia will miss the rest of the 2023 National Football League season with a broken bone in his throwing shoulder. Watson suffered the injury on Sunday in a 33-31 Browns win over the Baltimore Ravens.
Watson completed 20 of 34 passes in the game with 213 passing yards, one touchdown and one interception. He also had eight rushes for 37 rushing yards. Despite the injury, Watson did play the entire game on Sunday.
In the six games Watson has played this season, Cleveland has had an impressive record of five wins and one loss. Watson has completed 105 passes in 171 attempts for 1115 passing yards, seven touchdowns and four interceptions. He also has had 26 rushes for 142 rushing yards and one touchdown. This was Watson’s second NFL season with Cleveland after being traded from the Houston Texans.
With Watson out of the lineup, the Browns are expected to turn to P.J. Walker of Elizabeth, New Jersey the rest of the season. Walker has seen some action in 2023 as Watson was out with rotator cuff and shoulder injuries. In five games, Walker has completed 48 of 98 passes for 618 passing yards, with one touchdown and five interceptions. He also has 12 rushes for 31 rushing yards. This is Walker’s first season in Cleveland, as he spent the last three seasons with the Carolina Panthers.
Cleveland meanwhile is in the very talented AFC North where all four teams are above .500. The Baltimore Ravens lead at seven wins and three losses. The Browns and Pittsburgh Steelers are second at six wins and three losses, and the Cincinnati Bengals are fourth at five wins and four losses.
