NRL Team Lists: Roosters Vs Storm – The Biggest Betting Impacts From Team Lists

12 hours ago - Sportingbase NRL Team Lists: Roosters Vs Storm – The Biggest Betting Impacts From Team Lists Image

The official team lists are in for Roosters vs Storm, with several key changes creating new betting opportunities ahead of kick-off. We’ve analysed the biggest winners, losers and matchups for punters following Team List Tuesday.

Biggest Winners – Roosters

Sam Walker

Walker returns to the halfback role after being rested following State of Origin, giving the Roosters their preferred playmaker back for one of the biggest clashes of the round. His kicking game and creativity should immediately improve Sydney’s attacking structure.

Betting impact: Walker’s return boosts the Roosters’ attacking ceiling, making his try assist and player performance markets particularly appealing.

Reece Robson

Robson also returns after Origin duties and provides the Roosters with elite service from dummy-half. His defence and ability to generate quick rucks will be vital against Melbourne’s powerful middle.

Betting impact: Faster rucks should create more opportunities for Walker and Daly Cherry-Evans to attack around tiring defenders.

Daniel Tupou

Back on the wing after celebrating his 300th NRL appearance last week, Tupou remains one of the game’s best aerial finishers and will relish any opportunities created by Walker’s long passing game.

Betting impact: Anytime try scorer markets become more attractive with Walker back in the side.

Biggest Losers – Roosters

Melbourne’s left-edge defence

The combination of Walker, Cherry-Evans and Tupou gives the Roosters plenty of attacking firepower down both edges and will test Melbourne’s reshuffled defensive combinations.

Roosters middle forwards

Containing Harry Grant and Melbourne’s experienced forward pack remains one of the biggest challenges of the round, particularly through the opening exchanges.

Roosters bench

With several experienced players returning, competition for interchange minutes increases, making player minute projections more difficult.

Biggest Winners – Storm

Tyran Wishart

With both Cameron Munster and Jahrome Hughes unavailable through injury, Wishart steps into a much larger playmaking role alongside Trent Toelau. Melbourne will rely heavily on his running game and ability to organise the attack.

Betting impact: Wishart becomes one of Melbourne’s most interesting player markets, with increased involvement expected in both attack and general play.

Harry Grant

Grant now becomes Melbourne’s primary attacking weapon. Expect Craig Bellamy’s side to play through their captain, particularly around the ruck where Grant can exploit any lazy defenders.

Betting impact: Grant’s try assist and anytime try scorer markets receive a significant boost with the Storm missing both first-choice halves.

Sualauvi Faalogo

Faalogo retains the No.1 jersey and his speed around broken play gives Melbourne genuine strike despite the absence of Munster and Hughes.

Betting impact: Faalogo looms as Melbourne’s biggest X-factor and represents value in anytime try scorer markets.

Biggest Losers – Storm

Jahrome Hughes

Losing Hughes to a hamstring injury is a massive blow. The reigning Dally M Medallist has been Melbourne’s chief organiser all season, and replacing his kicking game and creativity won’t be easy.

Cameron Munster

Munster remains sidelined with a knee injury, leaving Melbourne without its two most influential playmakers for one of the toughest road trips of the season.

Storm outside backs

Without Hughes and Munster creating space, Melbourne’s outside backs may receive fewer quality attacking opportunities than usual.

Early Betting Verdict

The biggest takeaway from the team lists is Melbourne’s continued absence of both Jahrome Hughes and Cameron Munster, placing enormous pressure on Tyran Wishart and Trent Toelau to steer the Storm around the park. Meanwhile, the Roosters regain Sam Walker and Reece Robson, significantly strengthening their spine. From a betting perspective, the Roosters appear to have received the biggest boost from Team List Tuesday, while player markets around Sam Walker, Harry Grant and Daniel Tupou are among the most appealing heading into kick-off.
